BGEO participates in AGUARICS, an innovative project coordinated by the Catalan Water Partnership (CWP) and funded by the Spanish Ministry of Industry and Tourism under the 2025 Innovative Business Groups (AEI) call.

The project aims to improve the management of reclaimed water distribution networks in urban and industrial environments, moving towards more efficient, secure and intelligent infrastructure.

To achieve this, AGUARICS will develop a smart sensor network capable of monitoring water quality in real time, together with a digital twin that will make it possible to analyse the hydraulic behaviour of the network, simulate scenarios, anticipate incidents and optimise its operation.

The project integrates technologies such as artificial intelligence, geographic information systems, cybersecurity and advanced data protection, building on the experience gained through the ReWaT project.

BGEO’s participation focuses on the development and deployment of the digital twin for the reclaimed water network using open-source technologies.

This tool will incorporate functionalities to monitor the network in real time, generate forecasts, simulate different scenarios and issue alerts based on operational parameters. In this way, it will support more robust, proactive and data-driven management.

The solutions developed will be validated in real-world environments, with the aim of facilitating their future application in other networks and contributing to the safe and efficient use of reclaimed water as a strategic resource for sustainability and water resilience.

AGUARICS was also ranked among the ten highest-rated projects in the 2025 AEI call, a recognition that reinforces its innovative nature and strategic value.

We are very pleased to be part of this project, coordinated by the CWP, together with ABM Consulting, SENSOTEC INSTRUMENTS, ULBIOS, Hispasec, the University of Girona, the Catalan Institute for Water Research (ICRA) and Smart City Cluster.

A multidisciplinary collaboration through which we hope to contribute to the digital and sustainable transformation of water management.
