BGEO participates in the IAqua project, an R&D initiative developed in collaboration with AVENTEC, SL and Aigües de Vic, with the support of Eurecat – Technology Center. The project aims to improve water quality management in distribution networks through the use of advanced digital technologies.
In this context, BGEO leads the development of a digital twin of the water network, integrating real-time sensor data with hydraulic models to provide a dynamic representation aligned with the system’s operational reality.
This approach enables the implementation of intelligent calibration processes for the hydraulic model, allowing automatic adjustment of theoretical parameters based on real data. As a result, it enhances the ability to:
-
detect anomalies at an early stage
-
optimize pressure management
-
support data-driven decision-making
The IAqua project demonstrates the potential of combining digital twins and artificial intelligence to move towards a more efficient, resilient and sustainable management of the water cycle.
Its implementation is supported by the Government of Catalonia within the RETECH Programme – Line 1: Projects to promote transfer and innovation in the field of AI.
