{"id":8770,"date":"2026-01-22T13:01:54","date_gmt":"2026-01-22T13:01:54","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.bgeo.es\/?p=8770"},"modified":"2026-03-18T08:30:51","modified_gmt":"2026-03-18T08:30:51","slug":"bgeo-joins-the-opra-project","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.bgeo.es\/en\/bgeo-joins-the-opra-project\/","title":{"rendered":"BGEO joins the OPRA project"},"content":{"rendered":"<p align=\"justify\"><span lang=\"en-US\">B<\/span><span lang=\"en-US\">G<\/span><span lang=\"en-US\">EO participates in the <\/span><span lang=\"en-US\">OPRA project<\/span><span lang=\"en-US\">, a European research and innovation initiative funded under the <\/span><span lang=\"en-US\">Driving Urban Transitions Partnership (DUT)<\/span><span lang=\"en-US\"> programme. <\/span><\/p>\n<p align=\"justify\"><span lang=\"en-US\">As cities face increasing challenges related to <\/span><span lang=\"en-US\">climate change, urbanisation and environmental protection<\/span><span lang=\"en-US\">, OPRA <\/span>aims to develop sustainable, resilient and biodiversity-friendly solutions for urban water management, as well as generate new knowledge and digital tools that contribute to more integrated and environmentally sustainable water management.<\/p>\n<p align=\"justify\"><span lang=\"en-US\">The project brings together a <\/span><span lang=\"en-US\">multidisciplinary consortium of European organisations<\/span><span lang=\"en-US\"> with expertise in <\/span><span lang=\"en-US\">urban drainage, water quality, biodiversity and environmental modelling.<\/span><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>\n<p align=\"justify\"><span lang=\"en-US\">\u00c9cole Nationale des Travaux Publics de l&#8217;\u00c9tat (ENTPE)<\/span><\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<p align=\"justify\"><span lang=\"en-US\">Groupe de Recherche Animation Technique et Information sur l\u2019Eau (Graie)<\/span><\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<p align=\"justify\"><span lang=\"en-US\">Universiteit Gent<\/span><\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<p align=\"justify\"><span lang=\"en-US\">Aquafin<\/span><\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<p align=\"justify\"><span lang=\"en-US\">Catalan Institute for Water Research (ICRA)<\/span><\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<p align=\"justify\"><span lang=\"en-US\">BGEO OPEN GIS, SLU<\/span><\/p>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p align=\"justify\"><span lang=\"en-US\">A key innovation of OPRA is the integration of <\/span><span lang=\"en-US\">biodiversity and ecosystem indicators<\/span><span lang=\"en-US\"> into urban water management models. To achieve this, the project combines <\/span><span lang=\"en-US\">runoff modelling, sewer network analysis, water quality assessment and biodiversity indicators<\/span><span lang=\"en-US\"> within an <\/span><span lang=\"en-US\">open cloud architecture based on QGIS<\/span><span lang=\"en-US\">, enabling advanced spatial analysis and data integration.<\/span><\/p>\n<p align=\"justify\"><span lang=\"en-US\">Within the consortium, <\/span><span lang=\"en-US\">BGEO contributes its expertise in open-source GIS, digital water management and data-driven modelling<\/span><span lang=\"en-US\">, supporting the development of tools that facilitate the integration and analysis of urban water and environmental data.<\/span><\/p>\n<p align=\"justify\"><span lang=\"en-US\">More information about the project <a href=\"https:\/\/dutpartnership.eu\/projects\/opra\">here<\/a>.<\/span><\/p>\n<p align=\"justify\"><span lang=\"en-US\">The project is funded under the <\/span><span lang=\"en-US\">Driving Urban Transitions Partnership (DUT)<\/span><span lang=\"en-US\"> programme, with national funding support from <\/span><span lang=\"en-US\">CDTI &#8211; Centro para el Desarrollo Tecnol\u00f3gico y la Innovaci\u00f3n (Spain)<\/span><span lang=\"en-US\">.<\/span><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>BGEO participates in the OPRA project, a European research and innovation initiative funded under the Driving Urban Transitions Partnership (DUT) programme.
