{"id":4584,"date":"2021-09-13T08:47:26","date_gmt":"2021-09-13T08:47:26","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.bgeo.es\/primera-reunio-presencial-del-projecte-coral\/"},"modified":"2021-10-18T08:50:36","modified_gmt":"2021-10-18T08:50:36","slug":"primera-reunio-presencial-del-projecte-coral","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.bgeo.es\/en\/primera-reunio-presencial-del-projecte-coral\/","title":{"rendered":"First face-to-face meeting of the CORAL project"},"content":{"rendered":"<p align=\"justify\">Last week, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.linkedin.com\/in\/barbara-rzepka-66b58710a\/\">Barbara Rzepka<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.linkedin.com\/in\/edgar-fust%C3%A9-culla-7816a3171\/\">Edgar Fust\u00e9<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.linkedin.com\/in\/joseplluissala\/\">Josep Llu\u00eds Sala<\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.linkedin.com\/in\/xaviertorret\/\">Xavier Torret<\/a> from BGEO staff traveled to Gda\u0144sk (Poland) to participate in the first meeting of the CORAL project consortium, composed by <a href=\"https:\/\/seadata.eu\/\">SeaData<\/a> (Gda\u0144sk), <a href=\"https:\/\/www.water-robotics.eu\/\">Water Robotics<\/a> (Montpellier) and BGEO (Barcelona). The aim of this meeting was to put in common ground the first steps of the project, to plan new ones, to build more confidence and trust with each other.<\/p>\n<p align=\"justify\">The consortium has been funded by the <a href=\"https:\/\/galateaproject.eu\/\">GALATEA project<\/a> on the scope of the Horizon 2020 with 180.000 \u20ac with the purpose to develop a large scale demonstrator focused to help marinas and ports to improve their air pollution, water quality management and also to enhance the efficiency managing their resources.<\/p>\n<p align=\"justify\">On the first day, we were invited to visit the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.portgdansk.pl\/en\/\">Port of Gda\u0144sk Authority<\/a>, the biggest port of Poland, who showed us not only their current facilities, but also their growth plans for the upcoming years. Besides, we held a meeting with the responsible of private operators pollution control who explained us the big challenges they need to overcome on the next years in order to follow the compliance with the EU standards. For that reason, the CORAL project will provide its platform to monitor water and air pollution, but also provide a DSS to help them with their decisions on this area.<\/p>\n<p align=\"justify\"><span lang=\"en-US\">On<\/span> <span lang=\"en-US\">the <\/span><span lang=\"en-US\">second day, <\/span><span lang=\"en-US\">we <\/span><span lang=\"en-US\">h<\/span><span lang=\"en-US\">eld<\/span><span lang=\"en-US\"> another meeting, <\/span><span lang=\"en-US\">this time with the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.port.elblag.pl\/page\/show\/2\/general-information?lang=en\">P<\/a><\/span><a href=\"http:\/\/www.port.elblag.pl\/page\/show\/2\/general-information?lang=en\"><span lang=\"en-US\">ort of <\/span><span lang=\"en-US\">Elbl\u0105g <\/span><span lang=\"en-US\">Aut<\/span><span lang=\"en-US\">h<\/span><\/a><span lang=\"en-US\"><a href=\"http:\/\/www.port.elblag.pl\/page\/show\/2\/general-information?lang=en\">ority<\/a>, where their CEO, Arkadiusz Zglinski, <\/span><span lang=\"en-US\">explain<\/span><span lang=\"en-US\">ed us<\/span> <span lang=\"en-US\">the big challenge<\/span><span lang=\"en-US\">s<\/span> <span lang=\"en-US\">that <\/span><span lang=\"en-US\">the<\/span><span lang=\"en-US\">y a<\/span><span lang=\"en-US\">re involved on. <\/span><span lang=\"en-US\">As <\/span><span lang=\"en-US\">a <\/span><span lang=\"en-US\">matter of fact, a new big c<\/span><span lang=\"en-US\">hannel is now in construction to com<\/span><span lang=\"en-US\">m<\/span><span lang=\"en-US\">u<\/span><span lang=\"en-US\">n<\/span><span lang=\"en-US\">icate the <\/span><span lang=\"en-US\">V<\/span><span lang=\"en-US\">istula <\/span><span lang=\"en-US\">lagoon with the Gulf of Gda\u0144sk in order to avoid to cross the Russian Border with <\/span><span lang=\"en-US\">their marine traffic<\/span><span lang=\"en-US\">. <\/span><span lang=\"en-US\">According <\/span><span lang=\"en-US\">to <\/span><span lang=\"en-US\">their work plans for <\/span><span lang=\"en-US\">the <\/span><span lang=\"en-US\">next years, we will evaluate the possibility to provide some solution using <\/span><span lang=\"en-US\">CORAL tech to monitor and control air and water <\/span><span lang=\"en-US\">pollution for th<\/span><span lang=\"en-US\">ose<\/span><span lang=\"en-US\"> works which they are involved on.<\/span><\/p>\n<p align=\"justify\">Besides those meetings, the teams had the opportunity to really start working together. Moreover, we enjoyed the experience of gaining confidence with each other, while having some beers and tasting delicious Polish meals like Zurek Soup or Pierogi dumplings.<\/p>\n<p align=\"justify\">Finally, on the third day, the return was a little bit hard. The first consortium meeting was plenty successful according to the expectations. Good vibrations with each other and no doubt that the work capacity of this consortium is much more than the summation of the work capacity from their small teams, is at least, their product.<\/p>\n<p align=\"justify\">We are proud to be on board, and eager to participate in the next meeting which will take place on Montpellier during the third week of January 2022. Meanwhile, all we have to do is to work hard to succeed with our work packages.<\/p>\n<p align=\"justify\">Last but not least, we would like to acknowledge the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.cwp.cat\/en\/\">Catalan Water Partnership<\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/eurecat.org\/en\/\">Eurecat<\/a> for their vision, mission and facts concerning this GALATEA Project.
